Sun Sep 15 15:28:21 UTC 2024: ## 18-Year-Old Connor Zilisch Dominates Xfinity Series Debut at Watkins Glen

Watkins Glen, NY – Eighteen-year-old Connor Zilisch, a development driver for Trackhouse Racing and soon-to-be full-timer for JR Motorsports, shocked the NASCAR Xfinity Series field on Saturday, taking home the victory in his series debut at Watkins Glen International. Zilisch, who led exactly half of the 90-lap race, showcased impressive driving skills and fuel management, ultimately securing a dominant win.

“I don’t know how I saved enough, I sputtered up the hill,” Zilisch said after the race. “I’ve been working for this one for months and it’s so special to me, man. I don’t even have words.”

Zilisch, who signed with Trackhouse Racing earlier this year, has been making waves in the racing world. His performance at Watkins Glen further solidified his talent and potential. His No. 88 Chevrolet, a part-time fifth entry for JR Motorsports, was the dominant car throughout the weekend.

“Enjoy this, you never win your ‘first’ again,” JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. told Zilisch, who will be racing the No. 88 car next weekend at Bristol.

While Zilisch has proven his prowess on road courses, he’ll need to adapt to oval tracks to become a complete driver. He’s already shown success in the ARCA Menards Series, winning five out of six races. He will next compete in the Xfinity Series at Kansas, Homestead, and Phoenix, before making his full-time debut in 2025.

Zilisch’s impressive win has ignited excitement for his future in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. While managing expectations is crucial, his talent and dedication suggest he has a bright future ahead.
