Mon Sep 16 16:44:11 UTC 2024: ## Second Lunar Eclipse of 2024 Will Not Be Visible in India

**New Delhi:** The much-anticipated second lunar eclipse of 2024, coinciding with the Pitru Paksha period, will not be visible from India. The penumbral lunar eclipse will occur on Wednesday, September 18, but it will be mainly visible from other parts of the world.

The eclipse will begin at 6:12 AM IST and end at 10:17 AM IST, lasting for approximately 5 hours and 4 minutes. While the eclipse will be observable across five continents – Europe, Africa, North and South America, and parts of Asia – India will not be within its visibility zone.

This means there will be no “sutak” period associated with the eclipse in India. The sutak period, a time observed before a lunar or solar eclipse, is not applicable when the eclipse is not visible in a particular region.

While the eclipse will not be visible in India, it is expected to have an impact on all twelve zodiac signs. However, individuals belonging to Taurus, Libra, and Sagittarius zodiacs are predicted to experience positive effects from the eclipse, potentially leading to improved financial fortunes.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon. Depending on the Earth’s position, the eclipse can be partial or total. A partial eclipse occurs when only part of the Moon is covered by the Earth’s shadow, while a total eclipse sees the Moon completely obscured.

This second lunar eclipse of 2024 will be a partial eclipse, with the Earth’s shadow gradually increasing before receding without fully covering the Moon.
