Sun Sep 15 11:26:32 UTC 2024: ## Calum Best Leads Charity Match in Memory of Two Men, Promoting Mental Health Awareness

**Hednesford, Staffordshire** – Calum Best, son of football legend George Best, will be playing alongside actors Stephen Graham and Danny Dyer in a charity football match on Sunday, raising awareness for men’s mental health. The event, organized by Sellebrity Soccer, will take place at Hednesford Town FC in memory of two Aston Villa fans, Michael Steede and Kieran Lavin, who both took their own lives within the past year.

“There shouldn’t be a fear of opening up about what you’re going through,” said Best, who himself has been open about his struggles with mental health. He recounted recently talking about life issues with his local bin man, highlighting a shift in societal attitudes towards men’s mental wellbeing. “In my dad’s time, there was none of that.”

The match aims to raise funds for the ManUp charity, which provides support for men struggling with their mental health. Helen Steede, Michael’s sister, described her brother as “the life and soul of the party” and said his passing had left the family devastated. She highlighted the importance of the charity, saying, “We don’t want families to have to go through what we’ve gone through. We don’t want to see men suffer in silence.”

The game kicks off at 3 pm BST at Hednesford Town FC.
