Amsterdam, Netherlands – Blackmagic Design has unveiled a new addition to its PYXIS 6K camera ecosystem – the **PYXIS Monitor**. This 5-inch HDR touchscreen monitor boasts full camera control, offering a compelling solution for filmmakers who lack built-in LCD or flip-out screens on their PYXIS 6K cameras.
The PYXIS Monitor provides the same controls and overlays as the camera’s built-in LCD, allowing users to adjust settings, monitor footage, and access menus directly from the monitor. With multiple mounting points, it can be easily attached to any camera rig.
While the monitor doesn’t currently support simultaneous operation with the camera’s EVF, it can be used in combination with the EVF on the URSA 12K Cine and URSA 17K cameras. Blackmagic Design is exploring the possibility of adding an option to disable or dim the built-in camera monitor.
The PYXIS Monitor boasts a bright tally light visible from a distance, a claimed brightness of 1500 nits, and a removable sunshade. It’s powered by a USB cable that also transmits data, providing full camera control, live video, recording controls, menus, metadata, and camera settings through a single connection.

Blackmagic Design has also introduced mounting solutions for the PYXIS Monitor, including a clutch-based PYXIS Mount and a PYXIS EVF Adapter that allows the monitor to be used as a large screen viewfinder. The PYXIS Monitor is also compatible with the URSA Cine, serving as an additional crew monitor or large-screen viewfinder.
Blackmagic Design is offering the PYXIS Monitor in three configurations: the standalone monitor with sunshade for $295 USD, the PYXIS Monitor Kit with sunshade, USB cable, PYXIS Mount, and URSA Cine EVF adapter for $445 USD, and the full Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor EVF Kit with PYXIS Monitor, sunshade, two USB cables, PYXIS Mount, URSA Cine top handle, PYXIS EVF adapter, and URSA EVF rotatable mount with carbon fiber rods for $645 USD.
All configurations of the Blackmagic PYXIS Monitor will be available later this year from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide.
