Sun Sep 15 02:58:33 UTC 2024: ## Bethune-Cookman Falls to 0-3, Stetson Suffers First Loss of the Season
**Kalamazoo, MI** – The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats suffered their third consecutive loss, falling to Western Michigan 59-31 Saturday in Kalamazoo. The Wildcats, despite a season-high 31 points, couldn’t keep pace with the Broncos’ explosive offense.
Western Michigan, led by quarterback Hayden Wolff’s 305 passing yards and three touchdowns, amassed 677 yards of total offense. Running backs Jaden Nixon and Zahir Abdus-Salaam each crossed the century mark, scoring two touchdowns apiece.
Bethune-Cookman, however, did win the turnover battle, securing a first-quarter interception by Andrew Volmar. Offensively, quarterback Cam Ransom rushed for two touchdowns and threw for 116 yards. Darnell Deas showcased his return abilities, taking the opening kickoff of the second half 98 yards for a touchdown, bringing the Wildcats within 14 points.
**Stetson Loses First Game of the Season**
**Greenville, SC** – Stetson’s undefeated start came to an end Saturday, as they fell to Furman 48-7. The Hatters struggled to find any offensive rhythm against the Paladins’ dominant defense.
Furman quarterback’s ability to both throw (three touchdowns) and rush (three touchdowns) proved too much for the Stetson defense. The Paladins built a 24-0 lead by halftime, effectively ending the Hatters’ chances of a comeback.
Stetson’s lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard pass from quarterback Trip Maxwell to receiver Aanjay Feliciano.
Both teams will look to bounce back next week, with Bethune-Cookman hosting Clark Atlanta and Stetson traveling to Harvard for their respective matchups.
