Sun Sep 15 12:21:29 UTC 2024: ## Milner Wins AORC Title Despite Late-Season Setback

Daniel Milner secured the 2024 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) title despite facing adversity in the final rounds. The KTM rider, who had dominated the season, suffered a dislocated shoulder in the penultimate event in South Australia, leaving him unable to compete on Sunday. This allowed his closest competitor, Kyron Bacon, to claim the fastest time in round ten.

Despite the setback, Milner managed to secure the E2 championship and the overall fastest rider title. He was pushed hard by Jonte Reynders, who closed the gap in the E2 category to just 19 points before the final round. However, Milner’s consistent performance across the season proved decisive.

The final round in Nowra saw Reynders take the outright fastest time on both days, further reducing Milner’s lead in E2 to 14 points. Despite the challenge, Milner persevered, emphasizing the significance of this victory after a challenging period overseas.

Kyron Bacon secured the E1 championship, overcoming a leg injury sustained in the final round, while Jye Dickson claimed the E3 title. Danielle McDonald was crowned the top female rider.

“It’s been a struggle the past few years overseas, and honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve won a title,” said Milner. “So to win the E2 class and overall fastest rider is really special.”

The AORC season concluded with a number of close battles, showcasing the high level of competition in Australian off-road racing.
