Sun Sep 15 11:44:00 UTC 2024: ## 60 Hikers Rescued After Heavy Rain Cuts Off Gunung Ledang Waterfall Path

**TANGKAK** – Sixty hikers were rescued by the Fire and Rescue Department after heavy rain flooded the path leading down from Gunung Ledang Waterfall on Sunday.

The hikers, mostly factory workers, were planning a camping trip at the top of the waterfall. They began their hike at 10am but were forced to seek refuge when heavy rain began two hours later.

The downpour caused the water level at the pond to rise, creating a strong current and submerging the bridge used to access the mountain.

According to Tangkak Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Rafiah Aziz, the department received a distress call from the Johor National Park management at 12.51pm.

The hikers were rescued after the water current subsided. No injuries were reported.

The operation involved nine personnel, one fire truck, and one Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) van. It concluded at 3.15pm.
