**SRINAGAR:** The Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (J&K LSA) successfully conducted its 3rd National Lok Adalat on Saturday, achieving a record number of settlements across the Union Territory.
Over 1,80,989 cases, out of a total 1,99,876 taken up, were amicably resolved, resulting in settlements worth Rs. 58,61,39,416/-. The cases covered a range of disputes including motor accident claims, matrimonial issues, cheque bounce cases, money recovery, commercial disputes, and compoundable criminal cases.
The success of the Lok Adalat, organized under the leadership of Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Chairperson Justice Sindhu Sharma, is attributed to extensive pre-Lok Adalat sittings, pre-counselling sessions, and awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging parties to settle disputes amicably.
“The high participation and settlement rate demonstrate the public’s preference for ADR mechanisms, offering a quick and affordable alternative to traditional litigation,” said Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary of J&K LSA. He expressed gratitude to stakeholders, especially the litigants, for their participation and highlighted that those who could not settle their cases during the Lok Adalat can avail of the opportunity in future sessions.
The J&K LSA continues to champion accessible, timely, and amicable justice for all citizens of the Union Territory.
