**New Delhi, September 15, 2024:** Polymatech Electronics, an Indian company specializing in multi-wafer semiconductor chips, is expanding its manufacturing footprint to Bahrain. The company announced a $16.2 million investment in a new chip manufacturing facility in the country, with plans to increase investment to $100 million by 2027.
Polymatech, headquartered in Chennai, designs, manufactures, packages, and assembles opto-semiconductors used in telecommunications, automotive, and medical devices. The company recently acquired a US-based chipmaker, leading to an increased focus on power semiconductors and data transmission, including 5G and 6G chips.
The new facility, named “Atri,” will be located in the industrial area of Hidd, Bahrain. It will assemble chips imported from India, serving markets in West Asia and North Africa. The chips will be used in sectors like horticulture and medical electronics.
The expansion follows Polymatech’s current production of 200 crore chips annually at its facility in Tamil Nadu. The company aims to increase its output to 500 crore chips by the end of the year.
