Sat Sep 14 17:56:00 UTC 2024: ## Strictly’s Tess Daly and Vernon Kay’s Unexpected ’90s-Themed Meeting Revealed

**London, UK** – As Strictly Come Dancing gears up for its 20th anniversary this weekend, a surprising revelation about the show’s beloved host Tess Daly and her husband, Vernon Kay, has emerged.

The couple’s love story began in the most ’90s way imaginable: with a charity event that involved recreating music videos in costume.

Vernon Kay, known for his roles on shows like “Family Fortunes” and “Splash,” recently shared the story on his BBC Radio 2 show. He explained that he and Tess were both presenting a music show called “Top of the Pops@play” when they were tasked with reenacting Britney Spears’ iconic “Hit Me Baby One More Time” video.

“She was dressed as Geri Halliwell in the Spice Girls Union Jack dress; I was dressed as Britney Spears,” Vernon said, adding that they found the costumes in a charity shop on Shepherd’s Bush Green.

The unusual encounter was orchestrated by fellow Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, who suggested the duo take on the challenge.

This unexpected meeting, a blend of ’90s pop culture and charity work, ultimately blossomed into a 21-year marriage and two children for the couple.

Tess, who has been presenting Strictly since its inception in 2004, has also enjoyed a successful career as a model and presenter, appearing in music videos for Duran Duran and hosting shows like “Children in Need” and “The Royal Variety Performance.”

With Strictly returning this Saturday, September 14th, Tess and Vernon will once again be front and center, celebrating the show’s milestone anniversary with a brand new line-up of celebrity dancers including JLS member JB Gill, TV presenter Nick Knowles, and Love Island contestant Tasha Ghouri.
