**Mukah, Sarawak (Sept 14):** Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced today an allocation of RM55.6 million for development projects on Pulau Bruit, ensuring the island’s inclusion in the state’s growth plans.
Key projects include:
* **RM45 million affordable housing scheme:** This scheme will provide 56 three-bedroom homes priced at RM150,000 per unit, with the Sarawak government subsidizing a RM10,000 deposit for each buyer. The initial 56 units will be expanded based on demand.
* **RM5 million agricultural centre and food court:** Located near the Semop Rural Growth Centre, these facilities are expected to boost the local economy and improve livelihoods on Pulau Bruit.
* **RM5.6 million repairs for the Semop Fishermen’s Resettlement Housing Project:** The 307 housing units, which have been left incomplete for some time, will be repaired block by block, with one block completed every six months.
Premier Abang Johari also highlighted the completion of a clean water supply project, worth over RM60 million, which will provide five million liters of clean water daily to Pulau Bruit.
The allocation and development projects aim to address the need for improved housing, economic opportunities, and essential infrastructure on Pulau Bruit, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents.
