Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who sprained his MCL in Week 1, will not play against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. While head coach Matt LaFleur initially kept the door open for a potential return, Love has not been medically cleared and has been downgraded to doubtful.
According to reports, a Week 3 return for Love is considered a long shot, with the most optimistic timeline having him back in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings. The initial recovery estimate for Love’s MCL sprain was three to six weeks, with some early optimism suggesting a quicker return.
With Love out, the Packers will start Malik Willis, who was acquired in a trade with the Tennessee Titans. Sean Clifford, elevated from the practice squad, will serve as the backup.
The Packers are aiming to avoid their first 0-2 start since 2006. They will be relying on Willis to step up in Love’s absence and secure a victory against the Colts.
