Sat Sep 14 21:57:34 UTC 2024: ## Neeraj Chopra Finishes Second in Diamond League 2024 Final
Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Diamond League 2024 final held in Brussels. He narrowly missed out on the championship title, falling short by just 0.01 meters to Grenada’s Anderson Peters who clinched the victory with a best throw of 87.87 meters.
Chopra’s best throw was 87.86 meters, but it was not enough to overcome Peters’ exceptional performance. Peters set the tone early, achieving his winning throw in his first attempt. Although Chopra managed to improve his throw in the third attempt, he ultimately had to settle for the runner-up position.
The Diamond League champion receives a prize of $30,000 USD, while the second-place finisher gets $12,000 USD. This means Peters will take home approximately 2.5 million Indian Rupees, while Chopra will receive around 1 million Rupees.
Despite missing out on the championship this year, Chopra had previously won the Diamond League title in 2022 with a record throw of 88.44 meters. He also finished second in the 2023 Diamond League final behind Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic.
