**Mumbai, India:** In a move to ensure peace and social harmony, the Maharashtra government has shifted the public holiday for Eid-e-Milad from Monday to Wednesday. The decision was made after the Muslim community in Mumbai chose to postpone their processions in light of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Eid-e-Milad, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, falls on Monday this year. However, with Anant Chaturthi, the day of Ganpati immersion, being celebrated on Tuesday, the Muslim community decided to hold their processions on Wednesday instead.
In response, the government has declared Wednesday as the official public holiday for Eid-e-Milad in Mumbai, replacing the original Monday holiday. This decision aims to prevent any potential conflicts and maintain a peaceful environment.
The state government has also asked District Collectors in other parts of Maharashtra to decide on the holiday dates for Eid-e-Milad in their respective regions.
