**Hulunbuir, China:** In a fiercely contested final league match of the Hero Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament, India emerged victorious over arch-rivals Pakistan, securing a close 2-1 win on Saturday.

The victory marked India’s fifth consecutive win in the six-team round-robin competition and further cemented their dominance over Pakistan since 2016. Although both teams had already secured spots in the semi-finals, the match was a high-stakes encounter.

Pakistan took an early lead through Ahmad Nadeem in the 8th minute, catching India off guard. However, India’s captain, Harmanpreet Singh, stepped up to the challenge, converting two penalty corners in the 13th and 19th minutes to secure the win.

The first quarter saw end-to-end action with both teams displaying fierce determination. However, India started brightly, dominating the early exchanges. The Indians patiently built their attacks and secured their first penalty corner in the 13th minute, which Harmanpreet expertly converted.

The second quarter saw India continue to press, earning another penalty corner in the 19th minute. Harmanpreet once again displayed his prowess, securing the lead for India.

The match also witnessed a heated encounter between Harmanpreet and Pakistan’s Ashraf Waheed Rana, resulting in a yellow card and a 10-minute suspension for Rana.

Meanwhile, in the earlier match of the day, Malaysia and Korea played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.
