Sat Sep 14 14:15:57 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Police Commissioner Warns of Fake Arrest Notices, Urges Public to Report Scams

**Mumbai, September 14:** Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar has issued a warning to citizens about fraudulent arrest notices circulating via email, phone calls, and messaging apps.

“Received an arrest notice from the Commissioner of Mumbai Police? Bring it to our notice,” Phansalkar stated on X (formerly Twitter). He emphasized that citizens should not fall victim to such scams and instead report them to the police.

The Commissioner shared a screenshot of a particularly egregious example – a poorly written email claiming a “court order” against the recipient’s IP address for alleged pornography-related activity, even falsely mentioning the CBI.

This warning comes amidst a surge in online cheating cases where fraudsters impersonate police officers or other law enforcement agencies to extort money.

The Mumbai Police encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communication claiming to be from the Commissioner’s office.
