**MANILA, PHILIPPINES** – Barangay Ginebra’s import, Justin Brownlee, attributed his 40-point performance in their dominant 124-102 victory over Rain or Shine to the team’s improved rhythm and offensive flow.
Brownlee, who struggled in the first meeting against Rain or Shine with a mere 18 points, emphasized that his explosive scoring in the rematch was a result of his teammates setting him up.
“My teammates did a great job finding me in open areas so I can knock down shots,” said the 36-year-old import.
He also acknowledged the scoring contributions of his local teammates, highlighting the balanced attack that saw five players score in double figures. Japeth Aguilar led with 21 points, followed by Stephen Holt with 18, Scottie Thompson with 17, and rookies RJ Abarrientos and Maverick Ahanmisi with 14 and 13 points respectively.
“I feel like we got a lot of guys who can shoot the ball,” said Brownlee, a three-time PBA Best Import and widely regarded as the league’s greatest import of all time. “It’s been showing these past few games with our win streak. Our guys struggled earlier, but coach (Tim Cone) always tells us to find the balance, whether me making shots or guys just going out there being aggressive.”
Ginebra’s victory over Rain or Shine showcases the team’s evolving chemistry and offensive prowess, a testament to their consistent effort and coach Tim Cone’s guidance.
