**Lagos, Nigeria** – The long-awaited launch of fuel production at the Dangote Refinery in Lagos is set to begin on Sunday, September 15th, as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has mobilized over 100 trucks to the refinery in preparation for loading.
The NNPC confirmed the deployment in a statement, accompanied by images of hundreds of trucks stationed at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki. The company plans to use these trucks to transport the initial fuel produced by the refinery.
This development comes after a recent agreement was reached between the government and Dangote Refinery regarding pricing and supply terms. The NNPC will serve as the sole off-taker of petrol from the refinery, while other marketers will source their fuel from the NNPC.
The Dangote Refinery, owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is expected to be a game-changer for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. With a capacity to produce 650,000 barrels of oil per day, the refinery is projected to meet the nation’s fuel needs and potentially export surplus products.
The commencement of fuel loading marks a significant milestone for the refinery and signals a new era for Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.
