Sat Sep 14 07:48:00 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Granted Bail in Excise Scam Case, But Restrictions Cast Shadow Over Haryana Polls
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in a CBI case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. However, the court has imposed restrictions on him, including prohibiting him from entering the Delhi Secretariat and signing files.
While the AAP leader remains free, the bail conditions raise questions about their impact on his political activities, particularly with the crucial Haryana elections approaching. Kejriwal is aiming to expand the party’s presence in his birthplace, and the upcoming elections are critical for AAP’s ambitions.
AAP leaders have maintained that the bail conditions do not prevent Kejriwal from campaigning across the nation, including Haryana. They argue that the timing of the bail will actually fuel the party’s political campaigns in poll-bound states.
“Kejriwal holds two offices – the Delhi CM and AAP Convenor. No restrictions have been imposed on him as far as his role as AAP Convenor is concerned,” said AAP MLA Somnath Bharti.
Despite the restrictions, Kejriwal remains determined to campaign against what he sees as a “dictatorship.” He has previously campaigned for INDIA bloc candidates during the Lok Sabha elections, even while on interim bail.
AAP officials are studying the legal implications of the bail conditions and are exploring further legal options. They believe the BJP’s attempt to bring down the AAP-led government through this case has failed.
“The BJP has become scared with the news of Kejriwal coming out,” said AAP leader Manish Sisodia, adding that the restrictions will likely not stand in the long run.
While the bail conditions may present some logistical challenges, they are not expected to significantly hinder Kejriwal’s political aspirations. AAP’s strategic planning and Kejriwal’s unwavering determination to campaign across the country will help the party navigate these legal hurdles.
As the Haryana elections draw closer, AAP remains focused on expanding its presence and promoting its agenda, undeterred by the legal challenges faced by its leader.
