Fri Sep 13 15:16:00 UTC 2024: ## Top Chef Restrains Burglar After Confrontation in Upmarket Cardiff Home

**Cardiff, Wales** – Lee Skeet, a renowned chef known for his work at Cardiff restaurants Jackson’s and Cora, found himself in a surprising confrontation after waking to a burglary at his home in the upscale Pontcanna area of the city.

Skeet, who has cooked privately for Premier League footballer Aaron Ramsey, recounted the incident, revealing how his anger management training and background in mixed martial arts (MMA) helped him remain calm despite the shock of the situation.

The burglary occurred around 6 am on Monday, August 12, when Skeet was awoken by the sound of footsteps descending the stairs. Realizing he was alone in the house, he cautiously went downstairs and discovered his front door wide open and £400 in cash missing from his kitchen.

Spotting the burglar 50 meters away, Skeet decided to confront him. He cautiously approached the man, who was sitting on a patio counting money, and questioned him about his presence. The burglar, visibly startled, initially claimed to live in the house before admitting to the burglary.

Despite his anger, Skeet remained calm and restrained, opting instead to wait with the burglar until police arrived. After a 20-minute wait, six officers arrived and arrested the burglar, who was identified as Shaun Powell, 48, from Bristol.

Powell was charged with burglary and remanded in custody. On September 13, he pleaded guilty to the charges and is due to be sentenced on September 20.

Skeet, reflecting on the incident, highlighted the importance of his anger management training and MMA background in helping him remain composed in such a stressful situation.

“A year ago I’d have beaten him up,” Skeet said. “But anger management coupled with MMA stopped me. I can’t express enough what training in MMA can do for your confidence.”
