Fri Sep 13 16:16:00 UTC 2024: ## 50-Year-Old Mystery: Cold Case Body to Be Exhumed for DNA Testing

**WRENTHAM, MA** – Fifty years after skeletal remains were found in the woods, authorities are hopeful that advanced DNA technology can finally identify the deceased. In April 1974, two hikers stumbled upon the remains of a white man near the Eagle Brook pumping station. Despite initial investigations, the man remained unidentified, and his remains were buried in the local Center Cemetery.

With the advent of new forensic techniques, local officials, including Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey and Wrentham Police Chief William McGrath, have secured a court order to exhume the body on September 25th.

The remains will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where samples will be taken for DNA analysis. The body will then be reburied in Wrentham.

It is hoped that the DNA profile generated from the samples will finally reveal the identity of the man, bringing closure to a decades-long mystery.
