**Kingston, Jamaica** – Reggae/dancehall star Bugle’s fifth full-length album, *Apex*, was launched on Wednesday night at Di Lot in Constant Spring Road, drawing a throng of industry heavyweights and fans alike.
The event, coordinated by ARTS Chic, showcased Bugle’s musical prowess and the widespread admiration he commands within the music fraternity. Among the attendees were fellow artists like Laden, Mr G, Bounty Killer, Jahshii, Beenie Man, Nitty Kutchie, Harry Toddler, Laa Lee, and Voicemail member Qraig, alongside producers like Mikey Bennett and media personality Tricia “Sparks” Spence.
Highlighting the evening was a passionate speech by dancehall veteran Bounty Killer, who lauded Bugle’s musical contributions while advocating for the prominence of reggae music within the Jamaican soundscape. “We are here to show love to our brother Bugle and his music,” Killer declared, urging selectors to prioritize reggae, which he dubbed “the heart of the people” and a “core music.”
The 16-track *Apex* boasts collaborations with musical giants such as Maxi Priest, Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Tifa, Capleton, Barrington Levy, and Rory Stone Love. It also features rising acts like Chaps, GiHrl, and reggae veterans Ras Shiloh and Military Man. Bugle explained his vision for the album, stating, “Apex is the highest peak, and I think this album is really a high peak for me… Mi put a whole heap of thought into it — the messages, the melodies and the production.”
Bugle, who took six months to complete the album, emphasized the importance of his collaborators’ contributions, attributing their willingness to participate to “love and respect.” He stressed his commitment to staying true to himself and his musical roots, asserting his enduring relevance in the industry despite its ever-evolving landscape. “Mi nuh waa run di place. Mi nuh waa have surface music, mi waa have lifetime music,” he said.
