Sat Sep 14 16:57:57 UTC 2024: ## India’s Neeraj Chopra Aims for Second Diamond League Trophy in Brussels

**Brussels, Belgium** – Olympic champion and India’s javelin star Neeraj Chopra is set to compete in the Diamond League final tonight, aiming to win his second trophy in the competition. The men’s javelin event is scheduled to begin at 11:52 PM IST.

Chopra, who won the Diamond League trophy in 2022, finished fourth in the 2023 season. This year, he secured his place in the final after securing two second-place finishes in the Diamond League meets in Doha and Lausanne.

He faces stiff competition from three throwers currently ranked above him in the standings: Olympic bronze medalist Anderson Peters (Grenada), Julian Weber (Germany), and reigning champion Jakub Vadlejch (Czechia).

“Whatever you face in your life, be it your examinations or any main event, always be confident about it,” said Chopra, speaking about his approach to high-pressure competitions. “Thinking is not wrong, you must actually think and that creates an electrifying energy in your mind and body.”

Chopra’s impressive 2024 season has seen him achieve two of his top three throws, including an 89.45m throw that earned him Olympic silver in Paris. He also threw 89.49m at the Lausanne Diamond League.

Fans across India are hoping Chopra can breach the 90m mark and secure victory in Brussels. The Diamond League final is a showcase for the world’s best athletes, featuring other prominent competitors like pole vaulter Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis (Sweden) and 400m hurdles star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA).
