**FRANKLIN, TX** – The Franklin Lions roared past the Lorena Leopards in a decisive 42-21 victory Friday night at Lion Stadium. The Lions, now 2-0 on the season, showcased a dominant rushing attack led by Jayden Jackson who amassed 149 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries.
The game started with a bang as Franklin’s Landon LeBouf took the opening kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown, putting the Lions up 7-0 just 13 seconds into the game. Jackson added his first touchdown six minutes later, extending the lead to 14-0.
Lorena (0-3) managed to find the end zone in the first half, but Franklin responded with a 20-yard touchdown run by Wade Stallones, taking a 21-7 lead into halftime.
The Leopards clawed their way back into the game with two touchdowns of their own in the third quarter, tying the score at 21-21. However, the Lions quickly regained control with a 21-point outburst in the fourth quarter. Jackson added two more scores (25 and 36 yards), and Collin Smitherman ran for a 77-yard touchdown.
Franklin’s quarterback Noah Tart also contributed, throwing for 100 yards on five completions, including three completions to Walker Anderson for 77 yards. The Lions’ defense also shone, forcing three interceptions from Lorena quarterback Brady Smedshammer.
The Lions will travel to Waxahachie next Friday to face off against the No. 6 ranked Celina team in a tough 4A-DII matchup.
