Thu Sep 12 01:35:00 UTC 2024: ## Zetwerk to Expand into Server & EV Production, Boosting ‘Make in India’ Electronics Ambitions

Bengaluru-based electronics manufacturing startup Zetwerk is aggressively expanding its operations, aiming to become a major player in the “Make in India” initiative. The company, which already manufactures laptops and other devices for global brands, plans to begin local production of servers in the next fiscal year and increase its laptop manufacturing capacity.

Zetwerk is also venturing into new sectors like automotive electronics and defense electronics. They have secured partnerships with companies from Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea to develop components for electric vehicles, charging infrastructure for oil companies like Indian Oil and HPCL, and parts for defense hardware. These partnerships will be formalized in the next two quarters through MoUs.

The company currently operates four manufacturing units in India and subcontracts production to other suppliers. Zetwerk also recently expanded its facilities through a strategic partnership with Smile Electronics, adding three new IT hardware manufacturing units in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Andhra Pradesh.

Zetwerk’s co-founder Rahul Sharma highlighted the company’s ambition to leverage the “Make in India” opportunity. “Our mission is to be in the major segments across the industry and use the ‘Make in India’ opportunity in the electronics space which we feel is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said.

Zetwerk is allocating ₹1,000 crore for expansion, expecting revenue growth of 20-30% in FY24. The company, which has raised $650 million in funding, believes it’s well-positioned for future growth. While not needing fresh investment immediately, Zetwerk is looking to take advantage of the government’s new incentives for electronics component manufacturing.

With existing facilities in the US, Mexico, and Europe, Zetwerk aims to export products globally, further solidifying its position as a key player in the Indian electronics manufacturing landscape.
