Thu Sep 12 00:11:28 UTC 2024: ## New Fire-Fighting Tool Promises Fast, Easy Protection for Homes

**[City, State] -** For homeowners living on acreage, the threat of brush fires is a constant worry. Now, a new invention called the Blaze Barrier is aiming to provide fast, user-friendly protection against these dangerous blazes.

Created by Washington-state-based designer and engineer Jacob Schuler, the Blaze Barrier is a fire-retardant boundary line that can be deployed in minutes. It comes in 50 and 100-foot lengths and is comprised of modules filled with a non-toxic powder containing monoammonium phosphate, a common ingredient in fire extinguishers and fertilizers.

The system works like a string of giant firecrackers. When a fire approaches, homeowners simply stake one end of the line to the ground and walk towards the fire, dispensing the modules as they go. This process takes less than a minute, allowing for a swift evacuation.

The Blaze Barrier is activated by flames, not just heat. Once a fire reaches the line, it ignites a fuse in each module, setting off a small explosive charge. This propels the fire retardant powder 5 feet to either side, effectively extinguishing the flames on one side and preventing the other from catching fire. The spent powder is then left to biodegrade.

If a fire never reaches the Blaze Barrier, the entire system can be stored for future use.

Currently, the Blaze Barrier is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign. Pledges start at $195 for a 50-foot kit and $395 for a 100-foot kit. The projected retail prices are $395 and $795, respectively.

The Blaze Barrier promises to be a game-changer for homeowners seeking fast and easy protection from brush fires.
