**New Delhi, September 13, 2024:** Heavy rains lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday morning, causing traffic jams and waterlogging in several areas. The downpour followed cloudy skies and light showers throughout the day. The minimum temperature dipped to 23.1 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees below normal.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted continued heavy rains in parts of Delhi-NCR. Light showers are expected throughout the weekend, with a break on Monday and Tuesday. Rain is anticipated to return on Wednesday and Thursday.
The persistent rainfall over the past few days has had a positive impact on air quality. Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 64 on Thursday, falling under the ‘satisfactory’ category. This indicates a significant improvement in air quality compared to recent months.
