Thu Sep 12 06:56:00 UTC 2024: ## Arctic Blast to Hit UK, Bringing First Taste of Winter in Weeks

The UK is bracing for a dramatic drop in temperatures as an Arctic blast is set to sweep across the country, bringing the first taste of winter in just weeks. Weather maps show a cold front hitting UK shores on Friday, September 27, with the chilliest temperatures expected in Scotland and the Lake District.

Southern regions, including Wales, are also expected to experience significantly colder weather with temperatures potentially dipping below 2°C in areas like Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons. Leeds is also predicted to be cold, with temperatures around 3°C. While London and surrounding areas are expected to be milder with a maximum temperature of 11°C.

Weather expert Jim Dale suggests that this chilly snap is likely to persist throughout September, although he acknowledges the unpredictable nature of weather patterns.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast for late September and early October anticipates typical autumnal conditions with a mix of wet, unsettled weather interspersed with drier periods. The wettest conditions are expected in the west, with the east remaining relatively drier. Temperatures are predicted to be close to or slightly above average.

However, before the arrival of the Arctic blast, Brits are already experiencing the chill of freezing Arctic winds, with some areas potentially seeing temperatures as low as -5°C.
