Thu Sep 12 23:15:49 UTC 2024: ## Suspended State Trooper Will Not Testify in Brian Walshe Murder Case

**[Location] -** Michael Proctor, a Massachusetts State Trooper suspended over allegations of misconduct during the investigation of Karen Read’s murder, will not be called to testify in the trial of Brian Walshe, the convicted art fraudster accused of killing his wife, Ana Walshe.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, in a court filing, stated that they do not intend to call Proctor as he was the lead investigator in Ana Walshe’s disappearance case. The filing also revealed that another local police department had deployed a sergeant to take over Proctor’s role in the investigation, dedicating additional officers to the case.

The decision not to call Proctor stems from concerns about his conduct during the Read investigation, where he admitted to making inappropriate and unprofessional comments about the victim. Prosecutors are currently reviewing data extracted from Proctor’s phone to determine what information can be shared with the defense in the Walshe case without compromising other investigations Proctor worked on.

Proctor was relieved of duty from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office following a hung jury in Read’s murder trial and was later suspended without pay. The Massachusetts State Police launched an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct against him.

Brian Walshe, who has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges related to Ana Walshe’s disappearance, is scheduled for a hearing on October 2. Walshe’s lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.

In a separate case, Brian Walshe was convicted of a years-long art fraud scheme involving fake Andy Warhol paintings. He was sentenced to 37 months in prison for his crimes.
