Wirral Olympian Sam Quek is set to bring her competitive spirit to the dance floor, joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing for its 20th season. The former hockey gold medalist, known for her work as a sports presenter and team captain on “A Question of Sport,” has expressed excitement about the challenge, stating, “As a former hockey player, I’m used to playing as part of a team, but the thought of dancing on the Ballroom floor in front of a live audience is quite daunting.”
Quek is one of a diverse cast of celebrities vying for the coveted Glitterball Trophy, including DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, Olympic athlete Bianca Williams, former footballer Paul Merson, EastEnders star James Borthwick, and comedian Ellie Taylor.
Bookmakers are predicting a close competition, with former X Factor winner Shayne Ward being named as the favourite. However, with a line-up boasting a range of personalities and talents, the competition is sure to be unpredictable and exciting.
The first episode of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday, September 14th.
