**New York City** – Taylor Swift and Post Malone took home two awards at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night, including “Best Collaboration” and “Song of the Summer” for their hit track “Fortnight.”
Swift, who leads the nominations with 12 nods, used her acceptance speech for “Best Collaboration” to honor the victims of the September 11th attacks, which occurred 23 years ago. “Waking up this morning in New York on Sept. 11, I’ve been thinking about what happened,” she said, her voice choked with emotion. “Everyone who lost a loved one, and everyone that we lost, and that is the most important thing about today.” She went on to acknowledge the hard work of everyone involved in the “Fortnight” video, before dedicating heartfelt praise to her collaborator, Post Malone.
“There is a very clear reason why Post Malone is everyone in music’s favorite person to collaborate with,” Swift gushed. “He is so ridiculously talented, he is so versatile and he’s the most down-to-earth person. Honestly, so unfailingly polite. It has taken me forever to get him to stop calling me ‘ma’am.'”
The VMAs also saw Katy Perry receive the coveted MTV Video Vanguard Award, performing a medley of her greatest hits. Other notable contenders for awards include Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, Megan Thee Stallion, and SZA, with several artists receiving multiple nominations.
