Thu Sep 12 13:40:00 UTC 2024: ## HandyDART Strike Enters Second Week as Negotiations Resume

**Vancouver, BC** – Mediated talks between the union representing HandyDART workers and their employer, Transdev, are set to resume today as the strike, which has crippled most services, enters its second week.

The strike, which began last Tuesday, has left hundreds of people relying on the door-to-door transit service without transportation, except for essential medical trips.

Joe McCann, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1724, has stated that the union is committed to negotiating until a fair contract is reached, even if it means talking through the night.

The union has called on TransLink, the transportation provider, to intervene in the dispute, with hundreds of drivers rallying outside TransLink’s head office earlier this week.

Transdev has stated that they will respond to the union’s latest proposal today. They have emphasized their commitment to fair wages for employees while also balancing the needs of clients and taxpayers.

The negotiations are expected to continue with no set timeline for resolution.
