**Norfolk, NE** – A student was arrested Thursday after Norfolk Public Schools administrators were alerted to a new threat made via social media towards Norfolk High School. The student is now in custody of the Norfolk Police Division following an investigation.

This arrest comes a day after NPS administrators were made aware of a threatening image posted on social media. While the district initially stated there was no viable threat to student safety, the recent threat prompted a swift response.

Superintendent Jami Jo Thompson emphasized that all threats are taken seriously, assuring parents and staff that there is no current danger to students.

The initial threat, which involved a social media post warning people to stay home from school, was reported by multiple school districts across the state, including Lincoln and Omaha.

Norfolk High School Principal Jason Settles stressed the importance of responsible digital behavior and encouraged students to report any concerning material to a trusted adult immediately.

This incident highlights the increasing concern surrounding online threats in schools and the crucial role of collaboration between schools, law enforcement, and families in ensuring student safety.
