Thu Sep 12 09:22:00 UTC 2024: ## Former Mayor Giuliani Accuses Bankruptcy Firm of Overcharging by $151,000

**New York, NY** – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is accusing a financial firm, Global Data Risk (GDR), of overcharging him by $151,000 in bankruptcy fees. Giuliani’s legal team filed documents in New York bankruptcy court on Wednesday alleging that GDR engaged in “duplicative billing” and excessive research charges.

GDR was hired by a committee of Giuliani’s creditors to monitor his finances after he declared bankruptcy in December 2023. The firm presented Giuliani with a final bill of $324,843.75 in August. Giuliani’s lawyers claim that GDR employees repeatedly billed for attending the same meetings, events, and discussions, resulting in duplicate charges. They also allege that the firm’s research fees were excessive.

“The final total, often repetitive, seems to be inflated, if not excessive,” Giuliani’s legal team wrote in the filing. They are requesting the court reduce GDR’s fees by $151,662.50, representing the alleged overbilling.

Giuliani’s bankruptcy stems from a $148 million defamation lawsuit won by two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. As an attorney for former President Donald Trump in 2020, Giuliani falsely accused the mother and daughter of adding ballots for Joe Biden, who won the state.

Giuliani’s spending habits have also been scrutinized during the bankruptcy process. In July, an attorney representing Freeman and Moss alleged that Giuliani was draining his bank account to avoid paying debtors. The attorney pointed out that Giuliani spent thousands of dollars on first-class plane tickets for himself, his girlfriend, and his assistant to travel to the Republican National Convention.

GDR, the creditor committee, and Giuliani’s spokesman have yet to respond to requests for comment. The court will now consider Giuliani’s request for a reduction in fees.
