Terre Haute’s own singing janitor, Richard Goodall, wowed audiences and judges alike during Wednesday night’s America’s Got Talent semifinals with his rendition of Survivor’s iconic “Eye of the Tiger.” Goodall’s performance, which received enthusiastic applause from the crowd, was met with praise from the judges.
Heidi Klum, who previously awarded Goodall the Golden Buzzer during his initial audition, urged viewers to vote for him. Judge Sofia Vergara commended his choice of song, noting the audience’s love for him. Simon Cowell, surprised by the song selection, acknowledged that Goodall’s charm transcends any musical expectations. And Howie Mandell concluded by highlighting Goodall’s “biggest heart” in the competition.
Goodall faced stiff competition from 11 other acts vying for six finale spots. The results will be announced tonight during a live show airing at 8 p.m. The final round, featuring the six semifinal winners and four Golden Buzzer recipients, will take place on Tuesday, September 17th, with results revealed on September 24th. The top ten acts will ultimately compete for the coveted title of Season 19 champion and a $1 million prize.
