**New York, NY** – Petra Getty, the socialite, model, singer, and heiress to the Getty oil fortune, has been putting her own personal touch on her New York apartment, embracing a hands-on approach to interior design.

“I’ve been on an interior design moment,” Getty shared at the Tory Burch fashion show, where she sat among other celebrities. “I’ve built a lot of stuff myself. I’ve been hanging up [things] and putting down floorboards myself and painting the walls.”

Getty, who recently released her first song, “One Hit Wonder,” explained that she finds painting therapeutic. “I painted the ceiling with stars a couple of days ago in my closet,” she revealed.

Getty, who filed for divorce from photographer Tobias Engel earlier this year, has been busy decorating her home after a period of extensive travel. “I was traveling so much that I haven’t really settled in completely,” she admitted. “It’s a long process. I feel like I had to live in it for a while to see the vision.”

Her inspiration? Her grandmother, Ann Getty, who was a renowned interior designer. “I studied a lot of what she’s done, she’s such an inspo,” Getty explained. “It kind of looks like if you went to a flea market, but obviously like a little bit more luxurious sometimes. I have so much stuff, but I want it to look like it’s lived-in.”

The result is a maximalist aesthetic with a touch of 60s flair. “It’s like a giant playhouse,” Getty described with enthusiasm. “I love it so much. I never really have people over because I don’t want anything to happen to any of these items. Everything is so fragile.”

While Getty’s decorating style may be eclectic, her taste in fashion seems to lean toward the sporty and urban. At the Tory Burch show, models showcased tank swimsuits, drawstring-waist karate pants, and jersey dresses reminiscent of football jerseys. Wide-shouldered pinstripe wrap jackets belted over pants added a touch of street style.

Perhaps Petra Getty’s latest passion for DIY decor will inspire others to embrace a more personalized approach to their homes. And with her eclectic taste and penchant for maximalism, her New York apartment is sure to be a unique and fascinating space.
