**DIMAPUR, Sept 11:** In a significant step towards modernizing education in Nagaland, the state’s Directorate of School Education has distributed laptops to 249 government high schools, 55 government higher secondary schools, and its departments. This initiative, part of the Nagaland Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources (NECTAR) project, aims to bolster information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and streamline education management through digitization.

The laptops will enable the monitoring of intra-school and administrative systems, improving the overall efficiency of school governance. Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor to the School Education Department and SCERT, highlighted the project’s focus on enhancing the governance system, stating that the laptops are a crucial step towards streamlining administrative roles and structures within the education system.

The distribution also signifies the department’s commitment to leveraging data for informed decision-making. The data collected through the teachers’ attendance monitoring system will be utilized for planning purposes, providing valuable insights into staffing needs and other critical aspects of school management.

Thavaseelan K, Principal Director of the Directorate of School Education, emphasized the laptops’ role in achieving the NECTAR project’s objective of improving school governance across Nagaland and enhancing teaching practices and learning environments in select school complexes.

This initiative marks a significant step in Nagaland’s journey towards a digital future, empowering educators and administrators with the tools needed to create a more effective and efficient education system.
