Wed Sep 11 23:01:39 UTC 2024: ## Motsa’le: A New Jerusalem Eatery With Heart and Soul
Tired of the same old breakfast routine, Jerusalem resident Sarah sought out a new culinary experience. Her search led her to Motsa’le, a charming café in the Motsa neighborhood, opened just before Passover last year by Chef Tamar Mayorkes.
Motsa’le offers a vibrant atmosphere, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor space boasts fake grass, shaded tables, and even a play kitchen for children. This family-friendly ambiance is evident in the diverse clientele, ranging from couples to families with toddlers.
But Motsa’le is more than just a pleasant setting. Chef Mayorkes has infused her menu with personal touches, creating dishes that are both unique and heartwarming.
One of the highlights is the “Shmensky’s Hummus,” a tribute to Daniel Ben Harush, a friend of Tamar’s who tragically passed away. The creamy homemade hummus is served with lahuh, a Yemenite bread, and offered with optional additions like a hard-boiled egg and fried eggplant.
Another standout dish is the “Rotem’s Smile,” dedicated to Rotem, a woman from Kibbutz Be’eri who prepared special breakfasts for soldiers with PTSD. This dish features lahuh fried in a pan with eggs and three types of cheese, a flavorful treat for those with a hearty appetite.
While Motsa’le’s menu boasts several vegan options, it also features traditional dishes with a modern twist. The café is a welcoming space for families, friends, and anyone looking for a delicious and unique breakfast experience.
Located conveniently in Motsa, just a short drive from south Jerusalem, Motsa’le is an excellent alternative to the crowded city center. Open from Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 4 pm, and Fridays until 3 pm, Motsa’le is a must-visit for those seeking a delightful and heartfelt culinary experience.
