Fri Sep 13 03:16:00 UTC 2024: ## Carlton Cuts Ties with Five Players, Including Injury-Prone Forward Jack Martin
Carlton Football Club has announced the delisting of five players following their unsuccessful finals campaign. The list casualties include injury-prone forward **Jack Martin**, who has reportedly undergone a medical at Fremantle.
Martin, who joined the Blues from the Gold Coast Suns in 2019, has struggled with injuries throughout his five seasons at Carlton. He was signed to a lucrative five-year deal worth up to $1 million per season but has only managed 54 appearances.
Also departing the club are **David Cuningham**, **Caleb Marchbank**, **Alex Mirkov**, and **Dom Akuei**. Cuningham played 58 games for the Blues after being drafted in 2015, while Marchbank, a key defender, made 56 appearances after being acquired from GWS. Mirkov and Akuei did not feature in AFL games for Carlton.
Carlton’s Head of List Management, Nick Austin, thanked the departing players for their commitment to the club. “David and Caleb have persevered through adversity throughout their extended careers at Carlton. Their resolve to continue to front up and give themselves every chance to overcome each challenge is a testament to them,” said Austin. “Jack also showed a resilient mindset through his five seasons and has made some lasting friendships at the football club, while Alex and Dom brought great energy around the Club over their time with us, each earning their opportunity to be part of an AFL program via unique pathways.”
The delistings are the first move in Carlton’s list changes as they look to rebuild for the 2024 season.
