**SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12, 2024** – Huma Finance, the leading Payment Financing (PayFi) network, announced today a $38 million funding round led by Distributed Global, with participation from Hashkey Capital, Folius Ventures, the Stellar Development Foundation, and TIBAS Ventures. This investment will fuel Huma’s mission to transform payment financing by utilizing real-world assets (RWA) to deliver instant and borderless liquidity.
Huma addresses a critical gap in the global financial system: the growing need for payment financing solutions that traditional institutions are struggling to meet. With PayFi, Huma brings trillions of dollars of real-world payment volume to blockchain and stablecoins, unlocking new financial possibilities. By leveraging the power of blockchain, PayFi enables faster, cheaper, and more secure cross-border payments, opening doors to innovative use cases previously unimaginable.
“We’re building an open payment financing network on blockchain that’s more powerful than Visa,” said Huma co-founder Richard Liu. “PayFi has the potential to revolutionize the entire payment ecosystem, and we’re already seeing tremendous interest from partners around the world.”
The funding includes investments in Arf, Huma’s recent merger partner and leading on-demand liquidity solution for global payments. Huma and Arf have already facilitated over $1.8 billion in payment financing transactions, making them one of the fastest-growing use cases for Circle’s USDC. With this investment, Huma will expand its PayFi network to the Stellar and Solana blockchains, ensuring accessibility across key payment-focused platforms.
“Moving money quickly and cheaply across borders is at the core of what the Stellar network does best,” said Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation. “PayFi is providing real-world utility that solves problems for people and companies, and it is the type of project tailor-made for the Stellar network.”
Huma’s innovative PayFi network has attracted significant attention from prominent blockchain advocates. The Solana Foundation’s support underscores the transformative potential of PayFi’s on-chain financial solutions, poised to redefine global finance. “PayFi is the creation of new financial markets around the time value of money,” said Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation. “Huma will be a great anchor for the PayFi ecosystem within Solana.”
To further decentralize its network and expand global access, Huma plans to launch the Huma Foundation this year. The company will also host the inaugural PayFi Summit at Singapore Token 2049, an event designed to foster industry dialogue and drive innovation in the PayFi space.
