**Jagtial:** In a tragic incident, Enugu Sagar Reddy (40), a farmer from Bhushanraopet in Kathalapur mandal, attempted suicide on Tuesday night after his pleas for crop loan waiver went unanswered.

Reddy, who owns three acres of land and had taken out loans totaling over Rs. 2.60 lakh, had been hoping for some relief from his debt burden. Despite attending a farmers’ protest and approaching agricultural officials and bank authorities, his pleas for a waiver were ignored.

The farmer, who previously attempted suicide at a protest on August 20, consumed pesticide at his residence on Tuesday night. Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Kathalapur before he was transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Jagtial.

Reddy’s wife, Manjula, expressed her anger and disappointment, claiming that despite media coverage of her husband’s desperate situation, no official had taken action. She blamed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the incident, stating that timely intervention could have prevented the suicide attempt.

This incident highlights the plight of farmers struggling with debt and the urgent need for government intervention to address their concerns.
