Thu Sep 12 18:57:46 UTC 2024: ## Emily in Paris Takes a Trip to Rome, and the First Lady Makes a Cameo
The latest season of Netflix’s divisive series, “Emily in Paris,” has taken a trip to Rome and featured a surprise cameo by French First Lady Brigitte Macron. In a scene that’s about as subtle as a neon sign, Emily approaches Mme Macron in a restaurant and asks for a selfie. The First Lady, surprisingly, plays the encounter with a touch of grace, making it clear that she follows Emily on Instagram and that “my country loves you.”
The fourth season, which dropped its first five episodes last month, also features a Christmas trip to Megève and introduces a new character, Geneviève, who adds some welcome tension to the plot. This American-born newcomer, played by Thalia Besson, seems charming but ultimately proves to be a scheming rival for Emily’s affections, especially targeting Gabriel.
Despite all the romantic drama, Emily’s fashion choices continue to be a source of criticism. The season sees her sporting a particularly questionable ski-resort ensemble, complete with a yeti jacket, green tights, and plaid shorts.
The show, which has faced criticism for its unrealistic portrayal of Paris and its characters, shows no signs of slowing down. The latest episodes, however, do introduce some interesting elements, including the Rome setting and the new villainous character, and the cameo appearance by the French First Lady is certainly a talking point. Whether these additions will be enough to finally redeem the series remains to be seen.
