In a letter addressed to U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, officials from two national groups representing top election administrators in all 50 states warned that persistent deficiencies within the Postal Service threaten to disenfranchise voters. They cited instances where mailed ballots postmarked on time were received days after the deadline to be counted, and properly addressed election mail was returned as undeliverable.
The letter highlights that repeated attempts to resolve these issues with the Postal Service have been unsuccessful, suggesting a systemic problem beyond isolated incidents or specific facilities.
