**LONDON** – The EastEnders cast were reportedly placed under a “ring of steel” security at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on Wednesday night due to a stalker threat.
According to The Sun, an overzealous fan had been harassing the soap stars online, making it clear they intended to attend the ceremony and meet the actors. As a precaution, extra security was deployed to protect the cast, with images of the suspected stalker distributed amongst staff for identification.
The EastEnders cast were also reportedly protected at their pre-awards gathering at the nearby pub Enderby House. A source told The Sun, “Bosses had to draw the line somewhere and when the stalker made their plans clear to attend the event, something had to be done.”
