**New Delhi, September 13, 2024:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case related to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
Mr. Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26th and has been in custody since then. The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail comes after a lengthy legal battle, with the court finding that his prolonged incarceration constituted “an unjust deprivation of liberty.”
The court imposed certain conditions on Mr. Kejriwal’s bail, including a ban on visiting his office or the Delhi Secretariat and refraining from making public comments on the merits of the case.
