Fri Sep 13 09:57:33 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Released from Jail After Supreme Court Grants Bail in Excise Case

**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail in the alleged excise scam case. The court, however, imposed conditions on his bail, including a restriction from working as CM and making public comments on the case.

Kejriwal, who was arrested by the CBI in March, had been in custody for over five months. The arrest came after the ED had granted him bail in the same case. The Supreme Court observed that the CBI’s arrest of Kejriwal, when he was already out on bail in the ED case, raised concerns about the agency’s neutrality.

The court’s observation that the CBI should dispel the notion of being a “caged parrot” and act as an “uncaged parrot” sent ripples through the political landscape. BJP leaders, who had been vocal about Kejriwal’s arrest, were quick to criticize the court’s decision, but also acknowledged that it was a conditional bail.

AAP leaders, on the other hand, celebrated the release, calling it a victory of truth and a blow to BJP’s attempts to stifle dissent. They also asserted that the Supreme Court’s decision exposed the BJP’s misuse of investigative agencies.

While Kejriwal’s release brings relief to the AAP, the legal battle in the excise policy case continues. The Supreme Court’s decision, which highlighted the need for the CBI to remain unbiased, may have far-reaching implications for future investigations and political battles.
