Fri Sep 13 14:46:56 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal Released on Bail, Returns to Delhi Amidst Heavy Rain

**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening after being granted bail in the CBI’s excise policy corruption case. He was greeted by a throng of AAP supporters who chanted slogans celebrating his release.

Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita and senior AAP leaders, addressed the crowd upon his arrival, expressing gratitude for their support. He claimed that his time in jail had only strengthened his resolve and that he remained dedicated to serving the country.

“They put me in jail, they thought putting Kejriwal behind bars would break my morale. Today, I want to tell you that I have come out of jail. My morale has been boosted 100 times,” said Kejriwal.

The Supreme Court, while granting bail, imposed conditions preventing Kejriwal from accessing the Chief Minister’s Office or signing official documents.

The BJP, however, criticized the bail decision, demanding Kejriwal’s immediate resignation, arguing that he remains an accused in the liquor policy case.

“The Supreme Court has shown a mirror to ‘kattar beimaan’ (outright dishonest) Arvind Kejriwal while granting bail to him. He should immediately resign after this,” stated BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia.

The AAP, however, retaliated by demanding an apology from the BJP for keeping an “honest leader” like Kejriwal in jail. The party further claimed that the Supreme Court’s decision exposed the BJP’s false accusations.

“It is not just the issue of bail granted to Kejriwal. The court has also given a big message to the BJP-led Centre to stop its dictatorship,” commented senior AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

The release comes after Kejriwal’s arrest in March by the Enforcement Directorate in the same case. He was granted interim bail in May for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections and surrendered to authorities in June after the court’s decision.
