**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The apex court granted him bail in a case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which had challenged his arrest in the matter.
The Supreme Court bench, headed by Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, heard arguments from senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal. Singhvi argued that Kejriwal’s name was not mentioned in the FIR filed by the CBI and requested the court to grant him bail.
The court, which had reserved its order, granted bail to Kejriwal, subject to certain conditions. He will have to furnish a surety bond of ₹10 lakh and two sureties with signatures. The court also directed him to appear before the trial court for the proceedings of the case. Additionally, the court has barred Kejriwal from making any public statements regarding the liquor policy case.
This is the second instance of Kejriwal being granted bail by the Supreme Court in the liquor policy case. Earlier, he was granted bail in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). With this latest bail order, Kejriwal is expected to be released from jail shortly.
