Fri Sep 13 12:46:59 UTC 2024: ## Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Granted Bail by Supreme Court in Excise Policy Case
**New Delhi:** Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail by the Supreme Court on [Date] in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.
The bail was granted on condition that Kejriwal would furnish a bail bond of Rs. 10 lakh and two sureties. The Supreme Court also approved the request of Kejriwal’s lawyers to send a special messenger with a release warrant for his immediate release from Tihar Jail.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in late June in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy. The CBI had informed the court that the investigation was in its final stages and they needed to continue the remand of the accused.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also arrested Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. He was currently in judicial custody in relation to the CBI case.
The Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Kejriwal comes as a relief to the Delhi Chief Minister, who is expected to be released from Tihar Jail within hours.
