Thu Sep 12 18:56:00 UTC 2024: ## West Virginia Encourages Public Participation in Fall Statewide Cleanup
**CHARLESTON, WV** – The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) is calling on residents to participate in its annual Adopt-A-Highway Fall Statewide Cleanup, set for Saturday, September 28th.
The cleanup, a joint initiative of the WVDEP and the state Division of Highways (WVDOH), aims to improve the state’s environmental quality by reducing highway litter.
Individuals, groups, and organizations can register to participate in the cleanup on most state-maintained roads. Volunteers will be provided with garbage bags, work gloves, and safety vests, and collected trash will be disposed of by the program.
Those interested in participating must register by September 18th. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
